Google's new Nexus 7 is one of the best 7-inch tablets available to buy in the UK/INDIA/USA/CHINA [2013-14]A sharper display, wireless charging, quad-core processor, and rear-facing camera: Google 2013 edition of the Nexus 7 proves you can get plenty of bang for your buck, even though its latest entry in the budgettablet market nowthe Google Nexus 7 tablet redefines what it means to be a budget tablet. Oh no people, this isn’t a quick rush out the door kind of job. Rather, this love child between Google and Taiwan-based ASUS is aiming to broaden the appeal of Android tablets as a whole. Furthermore, it doesn’t skimp out in the hardware, as it boasts a quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor – much like some of its highly respected brethren. The new Nexus 7 looks very much like the old version but if you’re familiar with that model then within seconds of taking out of the box you can tell it's the next generation. It's slimmer and lighter than the original for starters, just 8.7 mm and 290 gHugo Barra, vice president of Android product management at Google, explained that the side bezels were reduced by 3mm on each side so that the device would be easier to hold with one hand. Shaving off that 6mm provides a “much more comfortable grip,” Barra said at the event.Google also stuck with a pure black-on-black design with the same soft touch that Barra says “everyone loved in the original Nexus 7.”

Google has dropped the silver band from the edge of the tablet to it's an all-black affair this time. Buttons and ports are placed as before but the rear casing has a completely smooth surface which feels soft to the touch. At first it seemed to be attracting indelible greasy marks but after hours of use we noticed that the rear cover was magically blemish free.

While we found the Kindle Fire just a bit too cumbersome and heavy to hold up in the air while reading, the Nexus 7's lighter weight and sleeker body means we can successfully hold it up like a book for 20 minutes to half an hour without our arm getting tired. Holding the Nexus 7 by the edge gets tiresome a bit quicker than

holding it from the bottom, pinky and thumb propped in front, with the other three fingers supporting it from the back, like you'd hold a paperback open
There are no new gadgets like infrared but the Nexus 7 (2013) comes well equipped with dual-band 11n Wi-Fi (although not 11.ac), Bluetooth 4.0 LE (low energy) and NFC. A model with 3G/4G mobile data is said to be coming soon for £299.

Google already introduced the ability to have multiple user accounts on one device but now you can essentially manage the application and content which is accessible on a certain users account. This is great if you want your children to use the Nexus 7 without accidentally spending your money or accessing unsuitable content.Last year’s Nexus 7 is now listed as “no longer available” in the Google Play store.
